'69 F350, my first dually

Here she is, needing much help. I already put some wheels and tires on the left rear, but in so doing, it seems the hub is loose. Maybe the spindle nut needs tightening, or maybe the bearings are bad.

Anyway, it had a 390 / C6, I'm looking to convert to diesel. Something from Pick-N-Pull for under $200, so maybe something like a 6.9 from an '84 or so?

The front brakes are drums :(
Gotta find a salvage-yard solution.

The entire bed has to go, it's ALL rotten wood, the only metal is what's visible in the pics. :(

The rear axle is 7' behind the cab, so the bed is 10'

Diesel for $200? Good luck with that if you want it to be rebuildable. 6.9 and 7.3 IDI motors can be gotten for less, but that is much less. The injection pump alone can bring that many times.Keep in mind going to a Ford light diesel, you must have a trans bell to match, as they do not share with any other engine type. They are relatively easy to install as far as hookup goes.

kewl! and welcome, looks like you got your work cut out for ya... but keep us updated, hopefully FTF will be a good resource for you. So are those the Rockies or the Sierra's in the background? I'm gonna guess WY.

Nice. Looking forward to your plans for this one!

Cool, a cattle hauler! :)
Where you at?

The rear box was taken off "mine" a couple decades ago
or I'd have a picture of "mine" too. :)

BTW, it ain't a 390 until after the stroke is measured. ;)

What's the engine code on the door/pillar tho anyway?

At this point, it really doesn't matter if it had a 390,360, or 352, if it isn't there any more. The main point of that is what style motor mount pads it has.

Oops, I didn't catch the "had". :/

Same here, mine -had- a 360FE+T18, now it's just a frame and cab
the way it started out. :) It was a stripped chassis Super Cab. That
cab got cracked really bad from all the twisting it did and it got to
where it couldn't hold a rear window.

My buddies don't believe-in duals on anything less than a full sized
truck. Duals are more trouble than they're worth to -them-. YMMV?

All the horses got trained to jump up into the truck, some like doing
that better than others, especially if it's full of cows already. My
favorite (Lightning) was usually the last one to load because she'd
crowd-in like she meant business! LOL :)

I like it. I hauled a lot of scrap and other stuff in a truck like that.
