High RPM's when in neutral.

I just picked up a 1980 f350 think its the 5.8L. It runs fine except whenever i take it out of gear it revs really high, even in gear it seams to be way too high. Its not the idle screw, I backed it out all the way, made no difference. I think something is wrong with the choke, more closed than it should be? any ideas or remedies?

Is the throttle plate closing??? If it is it could be a vacuum leak!!!

Yup! check those.
If you have any help then take off the air cleaner and have some body put the truck in and out of gear while you look at and in the carb and see if some thing is messing up and sticking.

Yup, that'll do it!

Just make sure you reset the idle screw or you'll wind up chasing a problem again once you get the vacuum lines fixed (don't ask me how I know. :p).
