Centrifugal advance in 1987 302 engine?

I have a 1987 E-250 with a 302 in it. It's good old smog test time again and I was checking my timing. I pulled the spout and put the light on it. It was at the 10 degree BTDC mark where it should be. From what I remember, last time it squeaked by with high HC. I thought dropping it a couple of degrees might help, so set it at 8 BTDC. Any thoughts on that?

I revved it up a few times and noticed that there was no advance of the timing.
Does this engine not have any centrifugal advance? It has no vacuum advance.

Thanks for any and all replies.

Regards,
Pat

Your timing is all computer controled. The distributer is now all electronic inside, no more weights like in the "old days"
generally what happens, the sensors pick up what is going on in the engine, and the computer tells the electronics what to do

If the check engine light is on, you can retrieve the code, and find out what is going on.
Usually if the check engine light is on, here in Md, the test comes up as fail, even if the vehicle

Pulling the codes are easy.
