Blew a lower intake gasket. A decent sized job that became a much bigger job when 2 of the lower intake bolts broke off in the heads. Shes been out of commission for over 3 months.

I remember that now...I hates it when simple jobs go like that.:headbang:
Are you still going to sell it or hang on to it?

Thats a very good question... Hahaha

I drove her about 25 miles yesterday (with no particular place to go) and really enjoyed it a lot . Same kind of feeling as driving the MG with the top down. Not sure why, but I really just liked driving it and hearing the exhaust again.

uh ha ! Thats why we all have extra transportation.

First Chris, congrats on getting your truck back on the road! If there's anyway you can swing it, hang on to her. You'll never find another that's in that kind of shape and that you're so familiar and comfortable with.

What's going on with all the broken bolts I keep reading about?

It can't be that I'm -that- friggin' lucky can it? :)

You think it might be that when I feel a bolt taking too much torque,
I stop and hammer on it or something before I go and twist it off?

Or what is it you suppose?

I could understand if it were an old Bump from the rust belt or coast
of Kalifornia but this is a new truck for cryin' out loud.

Both of the bolts that broke were the forward-most bolts that screw in about half an inch from the coolant passages in the heads. The coolant had made its way to the bolts and thoroughly corroded them-- it didn't take very much torque before they just split like butter. In fact one of the bolts felt like it may have already been broken in the middle (which might explain why my gasket blew out in the first place).

^^^what he said. It is fairly typical from what I have seen. Not really anything caused from him taking them out. Just corrosion.
