what's the most common way to refer to these (300-6)

some combination of the above?

i just got one and figured i should call it the "common" name. what would most people google when looking for engine info? that's what i should put in the posts.

I usually say "300-6" or "straight-six."

The former is easier to type, the latter easier to say.
 
i on the other hand always (at the parts store)called it 4.9

Yeah the 300 or the I6 on the boards. In person, 4.9L at parts stores, 300 straight six when speaking to friends.

I don't use communist measurements (metric) unless I have to...:D

Nobody knows what a Ford 140 ci 4-cyl is, though...:(

300 I6, Big Block 6/BB6, 300c.i.'er.

Then of course you've the SB6 (144, 170 Special, 200 & 250c.i.'s) & the MB6 (215, 223 & 262c.i.'s). smiliestirthepot

I just call it a 300. people who don't know hear "300" and think it's a small V8. I am happy to correct them.
 
I call it the 300 also. Sometimes I use 4.9L, depending on who Im talking to.

I dont. Usually when I talk to ricers, they are like "Look at my 3L supra motor, thats a 3L I6", and I'm like "look at my 5L I6". :rofl:
