setting the valve lash on a 400

Good evening folks. I am building a 400 to drop in my 73 f350. I have punched it .030 and shaved the heads .020. Installing a comp 268 cam with straight up timing. But it has been close to 20 yrs since I built my last engine. I am a little twisted in how to set my valve lash. Which is the BEST way to set the lash. Can I do each cylinder on TDC both I&E and turning the crank 90 deg each time till all are complete. I read a procedure that had you do #1 I&E then I on another cylinder and E on another cylinder so on and so forth. I know someone here knows a tried and true way that will not wipe out my cam during break in. Thanks up front for any help.
