'75 F-250 trans swap

I have a "75 F-250 2-wheel drive truck with a 360 engine. I am wanting to put an overdrive manual trans (granny gear type) in it and leave the 360 engine. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which bellhousing, flywheel, and trans will work together behind the 360 engine?
Thanks
Jerry

Only from a 360-390 Truck 76 was the last year for the 360

That's it.

The Borg Warner T85N three speed overdrive was available on 1965/72 F100's with 352/360/390's and 1961/67 Galaxies with 352/390's.

How dumb of me.

Bill I am waiting for you to phone me :)

I'm wanting to go with a truck type trans, one with granny gear instead of a car/light truck type trans. The 360 has the same bellhousing pattern as the 390 and 427, doesn't the 429 or either the 460 have the same pattern? I know there were some of the big truck engines that had the same pattern as the 390 but I doubt if there were any OD trans for them, probably just plain 4-speeds.

Correct me if I'm wrong and I usually am when I've had a few Jack & Cokes but you can get an adapter for the bellhousing to mate up...

Man I need to re-size/re-sample these big suckers...

That's a Clark 282 5 speed "truck" transmission. (model 282V55)
Is that what you mean? LOL :)
It's bolted up to a 361FT.
Part number off its tag...
D3TA-7004-DA
It's got just a little over 60K miles on the whole rig.
And a picture just for the rust-belt guys...

pps- Enough of my BS :/ for the OP...
What 5 speed transmission is more practical than this Clark? :)

Now we're getting on the same page. That's more what I'm wanting to do. The Clark 5-speed, do you know if it's an Overdrive or is 5th straight through and just has 4 lower gears? The 361 engine, it's the same bellhousing as the 360. 390, etc., right? I don't necessarily have to have an overdrive, I can change my rear end gear. The main thing I want is to have a higher road gear and still have the low granny gear.

Cool.
But I was just kidding around. ;)

That Clark 282V in -my half of that C700- is coupled to a 2 speed axle
that's under the half of the truck my friend didn't give to me. LOL :)

I'll get the tag next time I'm there (next week?).

282 5th = 1.00

I was thinking along the same lines once.

I'm not all the way sure on that, someday when I tear that thing apart I'll
find out. Bolt pattern is the same I believe.

You can do that anyway and it'll help your gas mileage.
Mine went down with my change from 3.25 to 3.50 with 235/85-16s (31.5").

What have you got now?
T18?

T18= 6.32 1st
282= 6.99 1st

Have you got a slide rule? :)
They kick butt when doing proportion problems!
The only way to go IMO.

T18 = 1.00 4th
282 = 1.17 4th

Slide rule sez it'd effectively turn my 3.50 into a 4.10 gear in 4th.
There's the T5 and some say it would be too weak but others are using
it and liking it. A 360 would be easy on it. ;)

T5 has a few different 5th gear ratios Ford used a 0.73 (among others)
and is about in the middle of the range so...

0.73 would effectively turn my 3.50 into a 2.55 in 5th gear, but no granny gear. :/

What gear ratio you got now?

What other engines share the FE/FT bolt pattern?
Y block?

360FE T18 235/85-16E's
2240rpm@60mph was 2080rpm/3.25
Slide rulz rule. ;)
