Its ok. I wouldn't pay $500 if cab mounts are rusted. I missed out on a nice 79 for like $2,000. I'm not too serious about buying much of anything right now, but I'malways looking around.

As long as the valves are capped off where the hoses connect, it might be rebuildable. If the caps are off, it's prolly no good.

Once outside air enters the compressor, the system has to be evacuated within weeks, otherwise it's history.

Maybe so but don't throw it away for two reasons...
1) it can be used as an air pump
2) the front bearing inside it is a bear to find! DG256211A (25x62x11mm)

Since it's got oil all over the inside of it, all you got to do is take it apart to
see what damage it's got from water condensation. Could be like new. :)

New gaskets and seals are cheap and easy to get.

Is it possible to rebuild it? I haven't looked into it too much.
I rebuilt my original and it's working like a champ. :)

Along with the engine, alternator, starter, rear axle, T18 and steering gear.
Steering gear needed bearings but has to be line-bored to accept bearings.

If your are serious about steering, go with a Red-Head...

...that's what I'm going to do next time. :)

Yep, that would be the truck. I have the benefit of actually seeing it.
He is pretty firm on the price. I couldn't talk him down.
Has you measured the stroke and -know- for a fact that it's a 390FE?
If it's a 390 it's not that bad of a price, IMO.

Just measured another 360FE that was supposed to be a 390. LOL :)

Bill keeps harping on "360's become 390's on sale day" and I couldn't
agree more -but- "that day" first started at the dealership in many
cases, from what I've seen. It's been carried forward from day-one! :/

It's like you ran over their puppy when you say "oh heck it's a 360 :/".
