After almost two years of operation, the radio/CD player is still going strong. After the first warranty returns for the radio and CD, I've had no additional problems. If I had it to do over again, though, I would buy one with a front-mounted input/USB. Mine is located on the back. I don't have an MP3 player, so I have to remove the radio to replace thumb drivers for musical variety.

Would I buy another one? I think the next one I buy will be an original radio that is gutted and revived for whatever I wish to put in it.

Cool Doug. Have you considered a USB extension cable?

You can also buy an extension cable with the female USB connection on the end and provisions for mounting it to a plate. Below are a couple pics of how I fabbed said bracket using some aluminum angle, clear coated it, and mounted it well under the dash where the USB stick isn't likely to get smacked and broken (glovebox is another good spot, IMO, open is convenient if the USB can serve as a charger). Something else to realize is.......some decks can be flashed, been there, done that. Also and if you desire, you can buy a jack and a cable, mount this on the same plate as the USB and plug this into your deck. Something to consider if your deck doesn't have bluetooth and thus, can't pair with your phone for music input.

***Am I understanding you correctly, your deck doesn't play MP3's?

Thank you, Bill. That looks really good, and is still protected. The radio has input for MP3, but I don't have one. I just sold my 8 track.....

Will the deck play a CD or a mem stick with mp3's? Not to be confused with an aux audio input via that 3mm jack.

Yes, Bill. I have a separate CD player attached to one of the inputs. The CD player is made just for that radio with an 8 pin din plug. There is no input jack on the radio, I think?

I followed Duncan's suggestion and put a USB extension cord, which hangs out the side of the radio. It is not pretty, but it's a lot easier to change thumb drives.

There is a separate MP3 connection on the back of the unit.

Hey Doug,

I was cleaning up my ebay watch list and came across this; you might be interested.

And then, at the bottom of the screen, a few alternatives conveniently popped up:

Something to consider.
