Toppers for short beds?

I have been looking for one of the tall style, camping toppers to put on a 79 short bed, but haven't had much luck finding pictures.

Has anybody seen this setup before?

Like a slide in camper??? They're definitely out there. If you mean like the white factory ford canopy...then, no...not out there.

No, not a camper, but I thought they called the taller toppers camper shells. Like this, but for a short box:

Yeah...those were a thing, just not a factory ford thing. I have a few topper/canopy/camper shell brochures from the era that did make short bed canopies, and did follow the angle of the cab, but it wasn't a ford offering. I'll see if I can scrounge up some pics tonight.

Cool. I don't need it to be factory ford, just as long as it fits right.

the actual bed stayed the same from 73- 96, so you can broaden your search
Only thing that changed was the outside sheet metal
Century makes a cap, I have one of those on my 94

Thanks, but even though the box is the same size, a new one would look very out of place on my 79.

The 80-96/7 caps don't fill the forward angled tilt the 73-79 cabs have. So the bed dimensions are the same but the actual design of the caps over the years have changed.

Thanks, but even though the box is the same size, a new one would look very out of place on my 79.

I forgot about the back of the cab!

Went on the sites trying to build a cap. Sadly, if we had a 70's chevrolet, we would be good.
Latest cap they still make is a 1980

I bet a few phone calls could round up a NOS cap somewhere in the USA tho........

What I really wish someone made is a replacement bronco top that was taller.

I would put my bronco back together in a heartbeat for something like that.

Last one of those I saw was like $3800 for a stripped shell.

I still haven't found anything. Does anybody have ideas for a topper that would look good on a short bed 79?
