64 f100 crown vic build

Sounds very cool!!

I saw a recent episode of Hot Rod Garage where they actually did a body swap, it's up on YouTube and worth a watch.

I Striped the complete wiring harness, and took part of the crown vic firewall.

Set the cab on the crown vic the cab has some clearance issues the cab braces and these rear cab flaps. I cut the f100 cab mounts from the f100 frame. And welded them to the crown vic frame. I used the crown vic mount pads but had to drill the f100 holes out to 40mm with a step bit.

I seen a side mirror idea I wanted to try. I will need to shorten the side mirror poles. I bought a new roll pan. The pan is plain steel and I needed it to match the truck. I looked for a way to rust metal quickly. First step was to clean the metal and sand the area I planed to paint. I ripped blue shop paper towel to make a uneven pattern. Then primed and painted the bare metal. I gave the bare metal a vinegar and salt bath for a few hours. I let the vinegar air dry then sprayed the metal with hydrogen peroxide about 3 times a day for a few days. I then put the roll pan in direct sun and ran this picture is after 3 weeks. The original hood has rotten hood mounts. I found a damaged hood at a junk yard that had good mounts.

Yesterday I started lowering the bed into place. I set the cab at a height I liked the mouldings are 36 inches from the bottom to the ground. I had a couple problems with the bed. First I wanted to keep the bed braces but the bed will not go any lower the 38 inches with them in place. I removed the braces and the front of the bed would lower below the 36 inches I was shooting for, but the rear of the bed hit the frame and will not go lower then 37 inches. I remove a few more inches from the frame rails. I sat the bed down again and it dropped to 36 3/4 inches. I'm going to have to remove the top of the frame rail to get it and lower because the fender brace is hitting and I'm not cutting it. I'm going to have to roll the fender lips there is 1/4 inch of clearance from the rear tires.

The bed still needs to be lowered in the rear and I'm going to build some bed mounts to bolt the bed to the frame.

Interesting project, please keep us updated!

Thanks for the encouragement y'all. I watched the hotrod garage build. They did a good job on it. I need a lift and a shop like them that would help with the up and down over and over. I Installed the new mufflers today. I also cut a little of the rear frame to try and drop the rear below where I need it. That way I can put the pads in to raise it back up. I took some more measuresments and found the mouldings are mounted 1/4 inch off from each other. I took the measurement from the top of the moulding around the top rail of the bed edge driver side is 5 3/4 inches passenger side is 6 inches.

I cut out the remaining areas that are keeping the bed from dropping down. Aligned the bed on jack stands and moved the lift.
Built the center brace and welded it into place. Trying to get the bed mounted before this weekend. Then I can get the front clip bolted in and 2 mounts welded up for that. Then wiring and interior and it'll be back on the road. I'm shooting for October. I get busy at work usually around this time threw October. But we've been cooler then normal.

I used the crown vic interior brake setup, MC, and booster. I used the bottom right hole on the f100 firewall booster.(because it lined up perfectly with the master cylinder) And made a template with the crown vic fire wall. Will need to move the pedal to the right a little with a homemade bracket. And I'm going to cut out the areas that interfere with the crown vic brake pedal vs the f100 pedal and brackets. I'm using the gas pedal from the crown vic and I removed that firewall section from the crown vic.
