I am having issues where the starter is not reliably engaging with the flywheel. It grabs every once in a while, but then let's go in a second or two.

I pulled the cover off of the starter and when it gets juice, the Bendix actuates, like its supposed to, but it just spins the starter 99% of the time.

I pulled it off, here is a picture to see if you guys can see anything I am missing.

I am looking at swapping it for a new style gear reduction starter. Does anybody know if starter mounting for the 300 is the same as 351M, 460 etc? Manual transmission.

All I can tell you is that the 351M/400/460 have the same part number, but the 300 motor has a different part number.
