Well it's been a long time since I've messed with a C6 but it sounds like the rod that actuates the park pawl may be stuck/jammed. Hopefully someone else has a better idea than that

When you move the shifter to the park position I'm assuming it acts as if it's in neutral? No drive in either direction but the park pawl not engaged either?

I'm not seeing any egr setup in the pictures. Verify your timing isnt over advanced and check that you don't have vacuum leaks and I'd bet it will run pretty good

So it turns out it's the fan clutch... it's run electrically and unplugging it's plug can stop/cause the noise. Only does it intermittently so if it ends up failing at some point I'll try to remember...
