I wanted to be exactly like it was when Dad owned it, I can't wait to see the look on his face when he comes up from SC this week, I just finished it up yesterday.

Wow, nice truck! Really like how you kept the "old school" theme with the rims, topper and push bar. Was that first pic in primer?

Yes, first one was in primer. everything that is on the truck is original to that truck. It has been in the family since new and never left , only took me 26 years to get it back and restore it to it's former glory.

Thanks, Dad got them in 1980, I don't even think they make them anymore, but they still look nice on the truck.

Had to restore it to the factory, wouldn't be right any other way. Besides that, I used to drive it to school in 81-82 and everytime I drive that truck I go back in time. Just wish gas prices were the same as then.LOL

Well to start out everything was ok with the primer, and the green, but when it was time to open the white it turned out to be SILVER. I was freaking out and of course the place where I got the paint was closed, so we were scrambling to find a quart or 2 of bright white. So, while we were trying to find paint, the guy who owns the shop, started checking around and came up with a white they use to mix different colors with, so it went on and 4 shots of clear later it was white and super bright. He said this white is bright er than Arctic white and it is. So, after 20 minutes of running around , the problem was solved. and as for the paint I got from NAPA, I got my money back Monday after a few minutes of explaining why I should get it back.

Mirror and gasket fell out on the way to the show, Found the gasket on the side of the road the next day.
Cool . My dad had the cream and white combo in 78 . (My firdt complete tear down and redo .(I don't think I'd let my 14 yr old do that . Guess got cool dad.
Like the factory cap also. OH I remember the rims . I still like the hurricains . And HAd them on my 79.
But there is a 97 F350 with hurricains around here they look like he had them chromed . Boy do they stick out at the shows.
Any how excellent job . Dad will be surprised .
We kept dads 78 till 92 3 beds several fenders set doors and frame replacement we finally gave up. I'm glad u didn't .

I got those for Dad in 1982. I didn't think they would last as long as they have. The place where I got them went out of business in 1988. I'm not sure if they are even available anymore. May want to try a search on it. I think I've seen some on Jeeps.

I've always liked the way the older Fords looked, My dad has a 66 f100 Custom cab, and my brother has a 72 f100 Sport Custom. I guess it was karma that I got my Dad's truck back after all those years.
