Oh well... you know your always welcome at my home (I think... we have never met, just spoke) - ha, ha

Too funny.....

Well... I think we should discuss the following too:

1) Run amsoil oil for 50,000 miles (NOT)

2) Use WIX oil filters (NOT)

3) Use WIX fuel filters (NOT)

4) Run Diesel fuel additives with alcohol (NOT)

5) Run K&N air filter

You can now... that's part of the "NEW" other site.

You can discuss Amsoil freely and the mods now get rated each time they post, people can rate them from 1 - 10 and make a comment!!!!

Great idea on the "Oil & Lubrication" forum!!! I will not be visiting the one on the "Other Site".

Wondering if it is a save the site action, or just what is going on... Unfortunately, mods have been an issue there, and waiting a few years to deal with it doesn't work out too well.. I'd be curious to know how serious they take it, or exactly how they use the info. To put it mildly, I'm quite a bit gun-shy over there...

Thats what I was thinking. They know who said what, when, and why against one of their own. That would be amunition against members or a lot of kissing up. Either way it won't do any good.

Am I to understand that a bunch of you guys actually got banned from the other site? Holy poop batman... what in the heck DID happen over there?

Guess I don't really have an express desire to hear the dirt, but it do kinda urk me a tad. I was going to go over there and have a look around for a bit tonight, but I guess I'll go upstairs and lay on my new memory foam mattress, read a good book and grin a while.

Gentlemen: Let me take this opportunity to say congratulations and good luck with FTF. Good job.

I would like to take this opportunity to clear up a few things. First, I offer a qualifier as a prelude to my following statements. For those who don’t know me, I am a Moderator at the preverbal “Other Site”. Specifically in the 6.0 / 6.4 / General Diesel Forums. I have been a site member for 3 years with over 6,300 posts. With that said, I have not been nor will I ever be a “company man”. I call ‘em as I see ‘em, and really don’t much give a damn if folks care for my opinions or not. They are what they are. While I try to be fair and open minded, my opinions are mine and mine alone.

Many things I read here do have a basis of fact regarding “The Other Site”…However, there is much embellishment and uninformed conjecture regarding what goes on both publicly and behind the scenes

Moderator Ratings: This has been on the back burner for quite some time. It only now has been implemented. Mods have zero access to the responses. It is designed strictly as tool to rate the effectiveness of a moderator. It is not a “site saving action”. There is no hidden agenda, vendetta, member ambush, or any other clandestine evil plan built into the rating system. Don’t read more into it than what it is. It is for the long-term betterment of the site. And BTW, if you want to jump over there and give me negative mod ratings….have at it. YelloThumbUp

Amsoil: As most know, Amsoil was a forbidden topic of discussion for a long time. In addition to dealers using the site as product billboard, the subject was a launch vehicle for intense ridicule and flaming of fellow members. I never had a problem with pulling the delete trigger at the first salvo of personal attacks. 3 months ago, management determined that technical and real world experience of this product was very relevant and decided to open a specific Amsoil thread. Over 700 posts later…personal attacks are all that have been “managed”. Some of you know this and even post there, yet you still come here and bust them for their Amsoil history.

The past: There are very hard feelings on many sides of the fence regarding historical events at “The Other Site”. There are many versions as to why some folks were banned, why some folks left, and / or why some people felt disenfranchised. All should remember that, while most of what you read does likely have basis, it is only human nature to slant a dialog toward your own belief. What is done is done. Mistakes were made by many. Why some people hang on to such bad feelings, almost vigilante mentality, for so long is beyond me. Don’t be guilty of what you espouse to be against. These are web sites for crying out loud. Not battlegrounds. Life or death does not hang in the balance.

To me, though, it is very disappointing that some folks (Chapter Leaders notwithstanding) participate at “The Other Site” as if there is some level of content…yet come here… and at the very least… make subtle disparaging remarks. Almost akin to talking out of both sides of their mouth. If you are that unhappy…move on. There is no reason for blatant bashing or even innuendo.

None of these statements is an attempt to point fingers at any specific individual. I only post this in response to things I read as to being misleading or even unjust. Really not any different from making comments in a technical discussion that may have some incomplete information. “The Other Site’s” management has no idea that I am posting these comments.

There is ample opportunity for new sites to thrive on the internet. You guys have a terrific new site and a lot of energy driving it’s success. Kudos to ownership for having the guts / desire to “Fire This Mother Up”. Build it on your own foundation and I am sure you will experience many years of great times, bonding, and truckloads of fun. Special thanks to those, many of whom I know, that have not been sucked into site vs site issues.

If you dislike my comments you can blame Beachbumcook….he’s the one that invited me here. :point2:................

BTW: If I am to be banished from FTF I accept the dubious honor to be first…at least one more time…at something. Just another notch in the ol’ Texas Hammer.

Continued success and best regards,

Keith

You will not be banished for stating your opinion. You make some very good points and all of us here are aware of the many different sides to the story.

I have moved on and have no hard feeling towards the "other site". It is a valuable technical resouce and I met some wonderful people while I was there.

I agree with you. What's done is done. I think we should all move on and instead of filling our site with negative information about the "other site" we should keep filling it with valuable technical information and general info that will help us grow as a community. YelloThumbUp

keith, the "other" site will know what you typed here. i hadn't finished a post here 5 mins prior to it being referenced elsewhere and i know who relayed it.
i've never had any issue with you and have rep'd you for good posts and support you've given me(though we don't agree on anything political). that being said, and with respect, if there isn't a vendetta, how, or maybe why, does a mistake i made typing stats get thrown into a thread that has more importance than anyting on either site. for a couple of days it was like a 6th grade play ground.
i know i've been walking on eggshells for a month so as not to piss anyone off anyplace. that has never been my M.O. piss 'em all off i used to say.
i don't want to be banned from "the other" as there are too many people that saved me last yr. but... the lil sob that is spying in here needs a trip to the wood shed. i, in no way, suggest you have knowledge of that person, but i'll blister him in open forum over "there". enough ***** footing.
glad to see you here and appreciate you trying to clear up things.
i don't speak for anyone here except myself.

Welcome to the nut house Keith. :) I hope you don't think I've meant any malice toward the other site. I just wanted to point out the new rating system. The vBulletin software is really kewel. There's so much that can be done with this stuff. Ain't the internet great.

I still visit the other site everyday as well. There's just so much information and so many knowledgeable people there. Not to mention, every oncein a while, I feel useful as I actually know something that somebody else doesn't. lol At least, if I can make a reply before vince or bowtie get to it.

Great post Keith... people at FTE will now review my old emails and PM's and see if I recruited you... but since I hasve your personal and work email address's I guess I have immunity against prosecution at FTE????

Hey... great post and I agree 100%.... but remember that the Mod rating system was introdcued with no notice on the forum page, in a sticky, or any other kind of notice or comment from FTE management. By implementing a new procedure with no notice aonly alloows one outcome... SPECULATION BY PEOPLE VISITING THE SITE.

With no outline of the "program", people will make their own value decisions of what the program is or they think it is... correct? So please do not correct "others" for making up their own opinions or making comments when the "other site" allowed "speculation" to occur.

Thanks,

Jeff

I am not sure that is a good idea anyway. Some people ask and beg for rep points just to look good. I personally never gave them any weight. High post counts don't mean much either. I saw alot of guys that had been around a long time with few posts. They tended to get the most of my respect. Besides, I know I can't spend large amounts of time on the boards everyday.
