New Member with 1965 F250 4x4

Hi all!

I am proud to say I just acquired a 1965 F250 4x4 to restore (with a few mods). A little help with the warranty number would be nice: F26DR638851
WR:120
COLOR: W
MODEL: F260
BODY: B81
TRANS: N
AXEL: 25

Also, looking at a 1965 f100 as a donor. I think all the body parts are interchangeable, right?

As much surface rust as it has, the body looks fairly clean. Nice truck!

I don't have a 65 book handy....but a 66 book sez:

Color...med blue
F260...6800gvw
N...5spd Clark
25....Dana 60 4.56/5200lb

Thanks for the info DNFXDLI! TJ, it came from a farm in Wilbur. I just found an F100 in solid shape (2 wheel drive) sitting in a field in Idaho. I will be trying to pick it up for a few parts. I figured they would interchange.

There are a couple small rust wholes in the bottom back corners of the bed. But that is it. Everything else is surface rust. There are a couple wrinkles in the passenger side front where they clipped it with a combine header. Not to serious.

Maybe yes, maybe no.
F26 = F250 4WD

D = 352 2V

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.

638851 = 1965, assembled December 1964.

120" Wheelbase.

W = Medium Blue

F250 4WD, 6,800 lbs. GVWR

B81: B = Medium Blue Crush Vinyl & Medium Blue Ladder Pattern Woven Plastic // 81 = 81B Custom Cab.

N = New Process 435 4 Speed Manual Transmission. TRANS code N used in 1965 only for the NP435. TRANS code A was used 1966/79.

25 = Spicer/Dana 60 Rear Axle / 4.56-1 / No Limited Slip / 5,200 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

6,800 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

172 net HP @ 4,000 RPM

If the 1965 F100 is 4WD, the body is the same. If it's 2WD, it is not the same!

1961/64 F100/1100 - 1965 F100/250 4WD - 1965/66 F350/1100 - 1966 F250 4WD have a cab step, visible when the doors are opened.

1965/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD use the same cab, there is no cab step.

The steering column, clutch linkage isn't the same either.

The Styleside bed is also different: 1957/60 Styleside beds installed on the following 1961/66's:

1961/64 F100/250 4WD - 1961/66 F350 (9' Express) / 1962/63 F100/250 2WD - 1965 F100/250 4WD - 1966 F250 4WD

P/S was not available for F100/250 4WD's until 1973 and then it's Power Assist P/S thru 1975 for F100 4WD, 1975 F150 4WD, 1977 for F250 4WD
