Help, is there a way to check if an alternator is going bad. On my 2003, F150, 6 cyl., on occasion I hear a gravel sound and I can't pin it down. It seems to come from around the alternator. Anyone have any ideas??

I've been replacing far more idler pulleys and tensioners for noise than alternators. An alternator's more likely to just quit charging.
