Headliner / Rear air

New here.. Posting for my wife's car actually.. I drive a modified focus my self I'm pretty active on the US forums for that car.

Any ways before I crack into any thing I like to know what I am getting into.

Vehicle: 2005 expedition Eddie Bauer
Problem: rear air is stuck on feet

It makes a clicking noise if you push the button to switch it.

I assume the clicking is a broken or out of adjustment servo.

I assume I will need to remove the headliner to get a look at it and repair it.

That said how do I get the headliner off without getting mad and breaking it.

Any one with wisdom to lend on this repair I'd appreciate it

There will be an actuator that is broken. Hmmm, usually its behind the right rear quarter panel interior panel.

Thought I'd revisit and provide resolution since I was unable to find documentation.

I started in to remove that kick panel and found, in my truck at least.. It was accessible by removing the cup holder and rear storage thingy.

A small 5/16 ratchet 3 bolts unplug a piggy and fixed.

I do not plan on replacing the defective part.. I can't think of a scenario where I would ever want to run the hvac to the feet in the rear. I inserted a screw driver into the diverter and tuned it to overhead... So far so good.

:/

It's been switching back to feet even though I completely deleted the switch.

Going to price the part

If more than $30 ill be molding something into the diverter.
