During normal driving conditions the piston works in the 'Comfort Zone', with fluid flowing through and past the piston, the result is a smooth comfortable ride. When driving conditions become more demanding such as rough, undulating roads or during sudden vehicle maneuvers, the piston works in the 'Control Zone' and fluid is forced through the piston.
