trans question

00 ranger with a 3.0 automatic
i still have the issue with the back up lights... now i notice that when i put it in reverse and hit the gas it kind of hesitates a second and slams into reverse.. could this be part of the reverse light electronics?

That sounds like a seperate issue to me. Have you tried adjusting the neutral safety switch to see if the backup lights work?

well today the truck started and i drove to the store then when i restarted it , it wouldnt go into reverse without heavy bucking and it slipped in first gear and didnt seem to want to go into overdrive so i dropped it at the shop chapter two starts in the next day or so when i get the diagnosis

Bucking? You should have a 4R44E if I recall correctly. There was actually a factory recall for this problem. My old Ranger had a similar bucking from 1st to 2nd gear. I'm not too sure what the fix was, or if that's even your problem, but you could look into it if you want.

take it to a trans shop, sounds like your tranny is getting ready to take a dump of your reverse gear......

well the trans shop told me the reverse band was bad and apparently the third gear one wsant too swift either... they replaced the neutral safety switch and apparently the overdrive switch is acting up ( one on the column) and they need to look at that cause when you put the truck in reverse and the lights come on then suddenly the fuse for the overdrive blows and then i lose the reverse lights... so i wont see my truck until after the holiday

I haven't had the same tranny problems as you but I did blow my back up light fuse dew to a bad ground on a trailer I was pulling. Maybe you have a bad ground somewhere?

this has something to do with the overdrive switch bloing a fuse to the reverse lights

yes i got it back a couple hours ago... apparently the wires to the overdrive switch has rubbed apart.. i though thtat was only an F150 problem and anyway they fixed that and the switch was ok and so far it runs like a dream
