Noise from the Box?

My wife just bought a 2007 F150 Supercrew and we noticed that when hitting bumps on the road, there is a hollow sounding thump from the box area. I also noticed that the box seems to move up and down when hitting these bumps. (movement seems to be on the drivers side). Anyone experience this before? A mechanic friend said these trucks have bolted frame sections. Where would they be bolted together? Maybe one side came loose?

There's like 8 LARGE bolts holding that box to the frame. Put a wrench to them.

I tried to tighten the bolts but they wouldn't move. i noticed while pulling my boat the noise didn't seem to be there. Any ideas?

Possible your spare is a little lose and bouncing around? Try sticking the crank in there and see if you get move it up any.

tried to tighten the spare.... Still no luck. I tried to pry up on the box to see if I could spot any movement but nothing... Any ideas??????

What is the best way to check for a worn out shock bushing?

You can usually tell by a visual inspection if the bushings are bad. Cracked rubber or pieces sticking out are good indications
