Well my new truck has lifter tick only has 86500 miles on it oil changed every 2800 miles i guess i dont understand why its doing this. Is there a way that you can fix it without haveing to do a complete teardown and rebuild? just curious.
The 4.0 the lifters tick due to the push rods and the rockers are known for wearing.
The wear due to oiling problems.
The rods kind of mushroom on the tips. Replacing the rods is the cure. Some say you can flip them over and this will cure the problem.
Yeah it shouldn't hurt it much.
Most times just flipping over the rods fix's the tick.
Not that hard once you get everything out of the way to get the valve covers off.
To do the valve covers you have almost every off engine. throttle body, coil packs Alt,ac pump. A very easy job but it takes 3-4 hours because of all the stuff you have to take off to get it.
