I've got a 1984 full size Bronco and the speedometer went out. I took it to the shop once and the cable had popped off so they just slipped it back on. Well it came off again as soon as I left the shop. I brought it back in a week later so they could take a look at it again, and they told me that the cable was fine but I had a bad speedometer gear head. None of the parts stores that this shop does business with carries such a specific part, and dealers don't sell items for trucks that old. My mechanic said I might just have to search salvage yards so that I can replace the whole cluster.

Does anyone know if it might be possible for me to buy a speedometer gear head somewhere? Do you have any other ideas that I might not have considered? I really appreciate your guys' feedback.
