Don't know if this is the right forum or not, yall can move it if yall need to.

Parents have a '03 Taurus, Last week my mom hit what she thinks was a "raccoon". It busted both of the power steering lines that run near/under the front bumper. She immediately pulled over and had the car towed back to the house. Dad put the new hoses on and bled the system, but its still hard to turn at low speeds or if it idles for a period of time, like at stop light. Is there any other way to bleed the system other than having the cap off and turning the wheels left to right? Any other things that we should try before replacing the pump? Doesn't seem that the pump would be so easy to mess up.

Sounds like some air is still in the system. Re-bleed. It takes a while to get all the air out...
